How Our Smart Fire Services Work

Smarter Technologies’s Orion Dat Network consists of low-power radio technology, GPS, non-GPS and switch tags, IoT-enabled sensors and gateways. The tags can be attached to any fire station assets—jaws of life, uniforms, fire hoses and fire trucksso that you can track the location and status of all your assets and personnel.

The Orion Data Network can be plugged into any existing Ethernet port to provide an instant ‘network of coverage’. Any tags within this coverage will speak to the always-listening network. The tags are not gateway dependent. This means that tagged assets like thermal can be monitored in movements across the entire country, pinpointed to exactly where they are at all times. In addition, any changes in the environment will be detected, with instant alerts sent in real-time to the relevant parties.

All data is transmitted to a cloud-based, central management dashboard, allowing for total visibility and control.

Environment Tracking

Along with asset tracking and auditing, Smarter Technologies’ Orion tags are also designed to monitor changes in the state of their environment. They can be integrated into existing hardware to detect a wide variety of state changes, including tilt, tampering, open, close, air quality, temperature, liquid levels, gas levels, solid levels and more. For example, the sensors can detect if a fire suppression system is missing or has been set off accidentally. The system will alert all parties to the fact that it needs replenishing or replacing.

Orion can be used to track firefighters and personnel at the fire station and at an incident.

Our specially-designed, Orion scanners transmit in beacon mode. This means that if any of your assets are stolen from your fire station, you can track them down to their exact location and recover them before they are sold on or stripped for parts. We will help you track and recover lost assets as well as provide evidence to make sure that thieves are arrested and convicted.
